Kalavantin Durg n Prabhalgad:

This is considered as one of the best trekking spots in the Sahyadri mountain range.

Difficulty :Moderate-Medium.

Only for Ages 18+. Need to be physically fit to climb.

Kalavantin Pinnacle is situated on northeast side of Panvel at a height of 2330 ft , on Mumbai-Pune road. Can see it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg & right side is Prabalgad.

The fort top commands an excellent view of the surroundings with Prabalgad in the front. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified.If time permits we will trek Prabalgad as well.

Tentative itinerary:

Friday- 8.40 PM: Board Mumbai Express from Nampally.

Saturday- 11.00 AM: Reach Karjat and get in booked transport and reach the base village Thakurwadi and start trekking to Kalavantin. We will come back and stay at the base.

Sunday .:

6.00 AM: Trek to the adjacent Prabalgad. start back to Base.

2.00 PM : Start for karjat.. board train from back to Hyderabad on Monday 9 am.

THINGS TO CARRY (The ones in bold are Mandatory)

1. Full Sleeve Tshirt, loose trouser/track pant. One extra pair of clothes.

2. Good Trekking shoes ii) A Poncho or Rain Jacket

3. 2 Pairs of socks/Sun cap/Windcheater/Plastic Covers (for wet clothes)

4. Torch light to move around in the night(Mandatory)

5. Sleeping bag (Mandatory)(else get 2 blankets one to put on the floor and one to cover yourself up). We will sleep on the floor.

6. 2-3L of water. We will refill when ever we get a chance.Do avoid buying plastic bottles and get some from home.

7. Snacks like chocolates/Dates/DryFruits/Carrots/Chana/Energy Bars which provide easy energy.

8. Toiletry.

9.A small backpack where you can put your stuff in while we trek. We will put our main bags somewhere and just carry our water with us. Hence a small bag.

10. Please bring a signed copy of this declaration + an original ID proof

4) ladies and gents accommodation is separate in tents or rooms.

5) Food will be mostly vegetarian

6) We carry Basic First Aid and if you need anything you can ask the organizers

7) If you feel unwell bring to the notice of the organizers immediately.

8) If you cant swim don't go deep into the water
