Training webinar: how to sight-read your notes

Online event

£25.00

How do you engage your audience and use notes at the same time when giving a speech? This is a dilemma for all debaters who have to make notes in real time to respond to counter arguments and questions, while continuing to hold the attention of their audience by speaking to them, not just reading aloud. In this webinar, Sonja - who is a professional actor, facilitator, and presentation skills trainer - will guide you through the basics of sight-reading, the art of using notes while speaking without your audience being able to tell. Running for a maximum of 60 minutes, this webinar will be highly interactive with no slides, but simply a selection of videos for you to discuss with the group and an exercise for you to practice sight-reading a speech yourself. You will be emailed a copy of this speech in advance and required to print it out to take part in the practical exercise. However, you can still participate in the webinar as a whole if you are unable to print off the speech at home. Training webinar: how to simplify complex arguments

Online event

£25.00

Debates are won by those who define what they are ultimately about: think Boris Johnson making the 2019 election about his 'oven-ready' Brexit deal or Johnnie Cochran making the OJ Simpson trial about racism in the LAPD. In this webinar, acclaimed competitive debater and consent trainer, Heather Robinson, will show you how to identify the principles at the heart of complex debates and use them to build simple persuasive arguments. After watching real-life examples of Heather's techniques in action, you will then have a chance to apply them yourself in the group exercise, which will be followed by an open Q&A.
