For our second meetup this month, we'd like to give a warm welcome to Sean Ellis, who actually originated the term "growth hacker" in his post Find a Growth Hacker for your Startup (http://www.startup-marketing.com/where-are-all-the-growth-hackers/). He'll be joining us from the west to lead a discussion on growth hacking.
More recently Sean is the Founder and CEO of Qualaroo (http://qualaroo.com) and GrowthHackers.com. Previously Sean was first marketer at Dropbox, Lookout, Xobni, LogMeIn (IPO), and Uproar (IPO). He also had interim marketing exec roles at Eventbrite, Socialcast, and Webs. At LogMeIn and Uproar continued to run marketing through NASDAQ IPO filings.
Topic: The Role of Ideas in Growth Hacking
Ideas are the "X" factor that separates the good from the great in growth. Process and metrics are the ante for getting into the game, but scalable growth requires huge amounts of inspiration.
For this open discussion we're going to cover:
- Where do the best ideas come from?
- Is only a certain type of person capable of generating “big ideas”?
- Is it possible to teach a process for coming up with better ideas?
- How do you know if an idea was bad or the execution of the idea was bad?
- How do you harness great ideas to deliver the best possible result?

Quotidian Ventures is an angel fund investing in companies using technology to modernize existing industries, processes and habits. Founding teams need to possess deep knowledge of the market they're modernizing that gives them a clear competitive advantage. Their technology solutions should represent a 10x efficiency leap when compared to existing methods (lower cost, increased speed, less waste, etc).
