and online 12.30 - 13.30.\n\nAnd wow have they been doing some brilliant t

on on our first presentation\, answering a question we in green IT ask our
selves regularly:\n\n**Images and videos – when do they add value\, rath
er than just page weight?**\nby Katie Spearman\, Content Design Assistant\
, and Dono Abdurahmanova\, Green Digital Design Intern\, both from the Uni
versity of Edinburgh.\nEvery image or video on a university webpage carrie
s a carbon cost often unnoticed by content editors. At the University of E
dinburgh\, we’re shifting the narrative about the perceived necessity fo
r online media by asking editors to consider one question before they hit
‘publish’ – does it add real value?\nWe’ll share how we’ve:\n\n*
Worked with editors to quantify the impact of their media content and its
effectiveness in supporting end-users needs.\n* Reshaped image guidance t
o help editors make greener design decisions and increase digital sustaina
bility awareness.\n\nJoin us to learn how your institution can think pract
ically about improving digital sustainability one webpage at a time.\n\nOu
r second session will look at the wider web estate\, giving us an opportun
ity to learn how the university has been greening its estate\, delivered b
y\nStratos Filalithis\, Head of Web Strategy\, Information Services Group
at\nThe University of Edinburgh.\n\n**How we have approached digital susta
inability in our web estate and what's next**\nHow do large institutions w
ork practically with creating more climate-friendly websites? In this sess
ion\, the University of Edinburgh share their experiences\, lessons learne
d\, challenges faced\, and what's next in their agenda for a "greener" web
estate.\n\nCome along and find out how the university has greened its web
  - and how you can do it too.
