Out of the park tonight. The group is growing and the entire enterprise is getting better and better. This night will go down as one filled with talent and also, the night that Charlie apologized. It was a stunning turn of events. This is not the white house and we have to hold our leaders accountable. In my humble opinion, Charlie must buy someone a drink and apologize for his misstep. No excuses about rehearsal, blah, blah, blah. As my junior high school principal at Halsey Junior High said, quoting on a daily basis,, "where law ends tyranny begins". Other than that Charlie did a great job, keeping everyone on point. He was also very complimentary ensuring that spirits were high and that everyone felt comfortable. Sorry for having to leave a little early. Looking forward to seeing you next time at the apology tour.

that's off stage, but......I'll buy you a drink anyway. When all is said and done, thanks to Charlie, Steve and all the nice folks at the open-mic, I feel connected and always have a great time. See you next month.

I too am taken by the awareness that a group has really begun to coalesce.More and more returnees are giving these sessions a tribal or family tone. Each of us sees the value in his/her own way but there seems to be a mutual value in taking our talent in front of people who welcome it because they understand it personally. Perfecting a craft is one thing but sharing it is the "performance" .Rather than waiting for our craft's perfection to happen ,we've all seemed to have found a place to showcase it just as it is, raw, unapologetic, personal. It is rare to allow people in that deeply but when you can trust them because THEY share this ability too it facilitates the experience. It HAS to be healing. At the very least it's fun.We have a lot of laughs mixed with the "serious business".

Excellent as usual with delightfully diverse styles.

The bi-amp setup with piezo pickup acoustic guitars running into the Fender is dubious to my ears: Harsh mids and too loud on stage volume. Hope they plan on fixing that next time.

Hey John - -I wish I could be definitive. I cannot. Sometimes yes, sometimes not so much.

The amp was repaired and picked up by the sound guy for the last open mic.It was in the room but we've been used to being without it.Also in the house, 2 brand new Shure Mics !

Obviously too late for today, but anyone want to work on a long Grateful Dead tune/jam for the next open mic. I'll be on eletric bass.

Hi, I'd like to join, is this just for acoustic guitar?

FYI, the amp wasn't there at the last show. Whether it'll be back I can't say. Anyhow, having occasionally played electric guitar, it can be done but plan on reading the FAQ for some advice, and the general "no gadgets" policy. This isn't arbitrary: Time is limited on stage and time spent messing with pedals really cuts into playing time.

The amp has been repaired. In the past an occasional shredder has taken the stage.People also bring others to accompany them but this is not a band event per se. The audience is pretty open to any performance short of a sledgehammer and watermelon.

Newcomers are welcomed and celebrated. You probably are way better than you think you are.Sitting on the edge of your bed, going through your stuff in your underwear will get you so far. At an open mic you get an audience and a community you never knew you were ALREADY a part of. Put on pants this month, come down to the Ella lounge and take part in this unique and enjoyable participatory EVENT!

A top of some sort and footwear are also helpful.

The sign says: No shoes, no shirt, no service. It says nothing about pants!
