Second Sunday Guitar Picnic in Central Park!!!

Welcome to guitar picnic season!!! For four years now, we've been holding picnics throughout the summer where you can meet other guitarists and enjoy some tasty treats in the beautiful surroundings of Central Park. We're excited for the 2014 season! Beginning in April through October, there will always be guitarists from our group meeting at the Great Hill, every second Sunday of the month starting at noon in good weather. This means that if you're looking to meet other guitarists, learn new tips + songs, or just hang out with friends and play frisbee, there will always be members of our group meeting there to play.

-read the weather beforehand and use your own best judgement (the meetup will remain on the site even in bad weather)

-be especially kind and welcoming to new members. Our group is famous for that!

-it's always a good idea to RSVP on our meetup site.  Then if you meet some people you really resonate with at the picnic, it's easy to stay in touch!

Our traditions continue:

-the picnics are always FREE are open to all levels & ages

-feed each other (bring enough food/drinks to share for yourself and a few friends) When you RSVP, please include what you plan to bring. Coolers are always welcome!

See you soon!!!

Bass guitarist with a mini bass amp. Been coming to the picnics for the last few years and I try to be very conscious of my noise level when playing with others. Assuming it's not raining, I'll be a hosting a music picnic of my own this coming Saturday.

Would anyone like to help me transport my battery-powered amp? Like, someone either driving or coming by subway via the N/R....

I can give you some $ for gas if you want, Lucas.

Nah, it's all good. Just let me use your amp a few minutes to show the group a song I've been working on and we'll be square =)

Hey everyone, how long does this event usually go for? I was wondering how late is -too- late to show up. I missed the last one because I was unsure if I would have missed it around 2 pm. Can't wait for this meet up!

About 2 and a half to three hours, but it depends on how many people show. Small group might just stay two hours, but I have seen it go longer when there were more people.

I've left around 5-6 pm a few times in the past.

Songs I was thinking of bringing: "Wild Thing," which is pretty easy, just open chords, and "Morning Dew," which I've been learning--the chords are really easy, I've been working on the riffs. Also was thinking of bringing "Boom Boom" the John Lee Hooker classic, but it requires tuning the guitar up half a step...also people have to be willing to sing it with a growl :) let me know. (the chords for "Boom Boom" are super easy--the riffs are supposed to be played faster than I can play but I'm working on it :) )

I use Wild Thing as a warm up, so cool with me! :) And growling sounds like fun! :)
