[Hacks/Hackers NYC] Open call: Be a part of Demo Day 4!

From: Chrys W.
Sent on: Friday, March 16, 2012 5:12 PM

Hello everyone!

Thanks to everyone who attended Jonathan Harris's beautiful and inspiring talk about "The Personal Story: Cowbird and Humanizing the Web." CUNY Graduate School of Journalism is processing the video and they've told us they'll post it to their Vimeo page next week so everyone can enjoy it.

Up next is Demo Day 4, your opportunity to show off your latest journalism-related project. At past Demo Days, selected speakers have wowed the crowd with projects such as:

  • The data gathering and data structuring behind Dollars for Docs
  • The TPM election night app, a high-class production made with limited resources; and
  • Text Toggle, created to make embedding and presenting interactive translations much easier
  • Baroque, a custom-built front page CMS;
  • ScraperWiki, an online tool for scraping data and requesting data scrapes;
  • HunchWorks, a social graph for ground truth; and
  • SenseCast, an experiment in Kinect-driven news displays

If you've got a journalism-oriented project, this is your opportunity to explain the story you were going after, or the problem you were trying to solve, and how you did it.

Apply now to present at Demo Day 4 by filling out this form. Deadline to apply is Friday, March 23.
