London Ajax User Group Meetup: Ajax & the Open Web 2010, Programming to Patterns

  • May 11, 2010 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

An introduction to the London Ajax User Group. We'll do a quick review of the state of Ajax, and discuss ideas for future talks and interests of this newly formed user group. JavaScript toolkits and frameworks make it increasingly easy to write highly expressive and concise functionality that enhances an HTML component, but the power of JavaScript's somewhat hidden inheritance model shouldn't be lost in that power. As programmers gain greater control over user experience design, it's more important than ever to write functionality that is reusable, scalable, and as cheap to maintain as possible without affecting performance. Architecting nearly everything you author into objects that can be extended and reused presents a lot of benefits. The speakers (Dylan Schiemann of Dojo and Piotr Zalewa of MooTools) will each tackle the same problem with code examples in MooTools and Dojo to illustrate the concept. We'll also have 3 or so lightning talks, and then head to a pub. If you want to give a lightning talk just let us know. Also, Skills Matter is sponsoring the venue for the event. They have asked if you can also RSVP there...
