April 25 - [ Community ] Overlap Shapes

About The Workshop:
Watercolor can be such a nourishing practice when you paint with ease - but that can feel impossible when you are questioning every brushstroke and worried you're going to mess it up!
Each session we will work on a different theme and this is NOT about mixing the perfect color green or mastering the wet-on-wet technique. It is about learning how to trust your intuition with judgment brain off (or at least down). Grounding into the present moment through your watercolor practice and paint with confidence.
Trust yourself to paint without pencil marks **Gasp! Trust yourself to paint loose flowers with bold brushstrokes. And trust yourself to make it your own!
This workshop is great for those just starting your watercolor journey or have been painting for years. Jaime's main goal is to offer some time to relax, process and explore your creativity in a safe community.

What We Will Do:
• Introduce the watercolor technique or creative theme needed to complete the session's (wet into wet / color theory / working through the creative block)
• Short centering meditation (based on technique/ theme)
• Watercolor prompt - question
• Open discussion

About Jaime:
Instagram @jaimereynolds_
Jaime graduated from design school with a bad case of the burnouts causing her to stop producing work for several years. It’s unfortunate, but the silver lining is that it made her turned to self-care. Over the next decade she dedicated her time to studying and eventually teaching yoga and meditation techniques with top guides from around the world. When she started to paint again, she took all these mindfulness methods with her and now allow them to influence her teachings. Her most favorite thing to see is a student start to create from their own source of abundant inspiration.

One way to appreciate nature on a different level is to sit with it and start painting it! While you may only need to place a plant on the windowsill at home to help create a more soothing and optimistic environment, you can increase happy feelings even more through painting botanical art. Unwind with us and paint along colorful "leaves" without thinking about anything else. Let us paint to relax and for stress relief, see it as a painting meditation.

Tracy Truong is a 4th grade public school teacher living in San Francisco. When Tracy isn’t planning, teaching, or meeting with families, she is a watercolor artist by night. Her paintings range from still-life to mostly loose florals inspired by the beauty in her garden. Painting, for Tracy, has become a protected space of mindfulness and a practice in patience. Her technique is to accept the blooms and organic textures from watercolor to capture the calm, peace, and grace she perceives from nature. She enjoys using loose floral paintings and hand lettering art to create vibrant and attention-getting signs, cards, and home wall decor. The paintings bring her healing and beauty during the pandemic, and she hopes her art inspires her students and adults to feel motivated and encouraged to creatively express themselves. Her work can be found on Instagram at @tracesofwater.
