PERMITS ARE SOLD OUT FOR THE INCA TRAIL MAY 27TH DEPARTURE. Others wishing to join should be thinking about one of two options:

#1. the Moonstone Trek GROUP departure on May 26th because that doesn’t require Inca Trail Permits, or

#2. perhaps a CUSTOM Moonstone Trek departure on May 27th so you can at least all tour Machu Picchu together on the same day, May 31st. A custom departure on May 27th would also allow your friends to join the Sacred Valley Tour with the Great Garcia Group, scheduled for May 26th. I ma leaving the instuctions below since you may need to do something similar if joining one of the options.

1. Review the core plan below and then decide if you will just do that or add-on or extend your trip before or after it. As for myself I am just doing the core trip with one day in Lima (to try ceviche). CLICK HERE ( for my flight itinerary and to get a base fare to compare to. If you will go beyond the core trip then you may need to contact our travel outfit for advice and to confirm availability of desired trip. Contact info for travel outfit is:

2. Make a flight reservations. I used the airlines sites themselves to get a trip reservation. I recommend trying travel sites like orbitz and expedia and compare to the airline's own websites to make sure your are getting the best deal. Note that you may need to do the multi-city options if you want to adjust stay times at different stops. Since we are reserving very early some of the travel sites like orbitz may behave funny and so you may be better off reserving with airline websites themselves. Also to avoid the hassle of taxis , I am just using Andean Treks for pickup and dropoffs from the airports and hotels.

3. Make booking arrangements with Andean Treks. They request the following:

· Trip Application Form ( – Passport name, number, and birth date must be copied exactly. These are used to purchase certain tickets and permits and must match your passport precisely or entry can be denied.

· Credit Card Form ( - We will take a non-refundable $350/person deposit on your trip cost. *You may call-in the CC# if you prefer not to send it over the web, but please fill-out the rest of the form and submit it so we have your signature on-file.

· Passport copies, emailed or faxed. Note: If anyone needs to renewtheir passport, scan a copy of your old passport first, before sending it out for renewal. This is important.

For hotel options see Daisy's note below (I'll be staying at the Andes de Americas):

Attached you’ll find our Cuzco Hotels ( document which will enable you to see a variety of hotels with different pricing which are available to you. Let me know your top picks when you book, as they’re being reserved fast for May dates which are right around the corner. For the sake of giving you a good solid quote, I’ve selected the Andes de America which is a larger hotel and often handles groups. It’s mid-range, so it might be the case some members would be wanting to upgrade to something more fancy. We can work with this model too. Andes de America is a good baseline though, at $59/person/night in double-occupancy rooms. Those arriving May 25th will need 3 nights, thus, the rate is $177/person for these 3 nights. Light breakfasts are included.

Optional upgrades: The Picoaga hotel in the nice Colonial rooms would be a lovely upgrade, and the double-occupancy rate is $100/person/night, so $300/person for the three night-stay your group is going to start with. Feel free to look at the other hotels on the attached Cuzco Hotels document and I’ll see if they’re available when you book.

4. Let me know when you have successfully completed the above and then I can mark you as "paid" as a way to indicate you are fully onboard.

The Core Plan: The core of the plan is to do the 5 day and 4 night hiking/camping journey along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu:

1. Saturday & Sunday, May 25-26, 2013. We start arriving in Cusco, Peru according to our own travel arrangements. These two days are mainly for acclimatization and you'll really need them. I can come up with things to do around Cusco, if not doing any of the paid tours, when we finalize things.

2. Monday - Friday, May 27-31, 2013. We do the Inca Trail. CLICK HERE ( for itinerary details.

3. Saturday, June 1, 2013. We depart from Cusco according to our own travel arrangements.
