Thanks for supporting this event! Save A Bull raised just shy of $5,500! We had approx 130 Motorcycles registered and 10 scooters! Thanks to Marty and Lissa for hosting us and a great kick off with generous amounts of treats and coffee! We were even able to recruit a customer to join us on the ride!

I plan on going, but, I might get caught on the road out of town. Will do my best to get there.

Was a good time, stunt riding motorcycles, lots of people and bikes, and wonderful bulls (the puppies were beyond cute). I picked up some treats for my dog that had to go into the kennel. All in all, a good day.

      June 22, 2013

Wish we got to meet! It was a fun day! I'm fostering one of those puppies!

I am so damn pissed right now. Spent over 3 hours riding around north mpls to anoka trying to find a 45 and under route... Failed. Then got to Anoka and was majorly let down by two of the parks, major construction and detours and not able to get a route from the Saloon to Bunker Hills Regional Park for our croquet tourney!

I'm going to attempt Marshal to east river rd to coon rapids blvd and see what that does, tomorrow on my day off.

Any other suggestions from those that travel via scooter from mpls to Anoka?

Who is coming along that can't hack a 50mph drive at some roads? I'm thinking we might just ride around downtown Anoka and hang out in a nearby park for croquet and then join in the days/evening festivities.

I'd be leaving the event around 7pm. A return group ride is not planned, but if you want to travel back together, let me know!

Thanks, Lissa! Hope to see Punk today!

She's here with Allove waiting to see All Y'All!

      June 22, 2013

  • brigette m.

    Todaaaaaay....we ride!
We are going to have to be pretty cautious on roads after the storm with the debris, including sand, loose dirt and slippery leaves.
I'm mostly concerned with possible downed trees in the coon rapids dam park. It's always an adventure on a scooter!

    See you soon!

    June 22, 2013

  • Don S.

I am now at Anoka and watching the bikes roll in is interesting. May not do Tyne run but am here for start and finish of the day.

Holy storm north Minneapolis. Trees down everywhere and floods.
I'm checking weather reports for tomorrow. Fingers crossed we can still make this happen, 11am at GoMoto! See you then!

I am so sorry - my partner and I aren't able to ride together as one scooter isn't working right now

    June 21, 2013

We have a scooter that isn't running well so we are going to skip the ride but drive to the event in the car and bring a dog. :-). Our six month old pup could use the socialization anyhow! Looking forward to seeing dogs and scooterers'

    Route as follows:

Tour around the Coon Rapids Regional Park Dam:
    http://www.anokacountyparks.com/parks/coon_rapids_dam_regional_park/documents/crd_summermap.pdf

See you SATURDAY at Go Moto at 11am! Or at River City Saloon before 2pm!

Wondering if any of the scooter riders may be joining the motorcycles on their route rather than the scooter route. I can go either way, but thought the motorcycle ride may be fun. Of course, everything depends on the weather.

    June 18, 2013

    • Riki

I'm doing the motorcycle route. Tried to preregister, but the site wasn't cooperating with my friend's PayPal, and it wouldn't take any other form of payment, so I'll be registering onsite that morning. This will be my first BIG ride. I don't know how many bikes are going, but there were 130 people rsvped on Facebook so....

We will be stopping off in the beautiful Bunker Hills park for a Hecks Yeah Croquet Tourney (I will provide the set). Swimming at your own risk is whatever you want to wear, highly encouraged!

    June 14, 2013

I'll be doing the Rescue Run itself, so see y'all at the evening's festivities!

Awesome! Thank you for supporting our rescue! Be sure to come introduce yourself!

      June 14, 2013

  • Don S.

Seems odd that I will have to put my dog into a kennel for the day/evening to go support dogs, but I am planning on going. Hope Marty can find the speedometer problem on my Jetmax 'Black Betty'.

    June 14, 2013

    • brigette m.

Marty rocks! Maybe he can hook you and your dog up with a side car!

      June 14, 2013

  • Don S.

Planning on doing the ride, but will head directly to Anoka as it is closer for me. Meet you up there.

    June 14, 2013

  • brigette m.

PLEASE don't let cost of registration scare you away! If you just want to join us for the group ride and not join in the after party at the bar with free t shirt... that's fine. Maybe you can stop by the rescue booth and drop a few duckets in our donation jar.... but PLEASE PLEASE... come ride with us! Marty and Lissa promise to host a Continental breakfast before we head out!

getting super excited for tis ride. going to drive the route this weekend to see how it goes. about a month off folks!

    May 13, 2013

  • Bob

Lets see how much interest there is in a alternate non-highway route. If we have enough scooter riders that don't want to take the highway is it possible to put together a ride for the rest of us?
Why wouldn't we be registered, it's just a alternate route. Ride at your own risk of course. Safely and sanely as always.

    1 · March 25, 2013

    • brigette m.

One of the organizers indicated they would not be able to provide an alt. route. For us at this time. Since proceeds go to the rescue, feel free to make your registration dollars stretch farther and donate directly to SAB at the event!

Ditto here, will be happy to learn of a moped-friendly route to Anoka.

Pittie Pride route from the Saloon will include rides along River Bend Park, Bunker Hills Park, West lake Park and Sand Creek Park!

    2 · March 26, 2013

  • Karen S.

Tamara Peters and I would both prefer a non highway route. My BV500 can do highways but I like a more leisurely ride.

    1 · March 25, 2013

    • Bob

I have my Honda 150 scooter and being almost retired I also prefer leisurely rides.

      March 26, 2013

  • brigette m.

This JUST in from one of the organizers! Please read and reply to this thread if your going to want to register!

Hi Brigette - Since your scooter ride is the same day as the Rescue Run I wanted to see if there was a way we could make it benefit SAB as well. Would your group be interested in a special registration code that lets them use our website to pay to ride and gets them the dinner and the tshirt included? We'd still have to be very clear that the scooter portion is not secured by MN Rescue Run, and I'd need you or someone from your group to be the official point person for this part of the day, but I wanted to offer that if you think it would be well received.

Let me know if you like the idea and I can get you some copy and the code to let Heck's Angels be a bigger part of this event.

    Thank you!

There you go...revised event invite- CYA-style...

    March 25, 2013

There are routes available that go from Anoka to Stillwater that does not have highways in the way. I know there is, because I rode a bicycle to Anoka from the East side of Saint Paul. The river route is a great option for us that prefer not to do the highway. I hope someone can put it together so the rest of us can enjoy the ride also.
And yes, you can get to Stillwater without ever touching a highway.

    1 · March 25, 2013

    • brigette m.

True, and I'd love to ride out to Stillwater, I just want to make sure we had a small enough group and made it clear to riders and the event organizers that we were a solo adventure... We wouldn't be registered, would not have police doing traffic blocks, etc. it would, as always, ride at your own risk. That being said... Lets plan the ride!

  • Fetching R.

Hi Brigitte, I just RSVP'd "no" but then saw the details and want to change my mind. 49 cc scooter, can go over 35 downhill with a tailwind. neither likely while riding north (from Columbia Heights). I'll start looking for a route, have always wanted one but never followed through to figure it out.

see my recent comments... found a sweet parkway route from NE or N Mpls to get there! It'd be nice to ride with you again (viva la Kramarczeks last fall!).

Here is a sweet, pretty much parkway all the way route from Go Motto in North Minneapolis... about 35 minutes to Anoka.

We could pick a restaurant in North (The Lowry, Emily's) to also meet up at... or a place in NE... more options!

    Who's in?

It feels SOOOOOOoooooo good to start planning rides again..spring is upon us! I have Marty picking up my bike next week for a tune up, spring cleaning!
