HESSPEA Plant-Based Cooking is for men & women, singles & couples who want to learn the history and celebrate the culinary food traditions that are inspired by the beautiful regions of Africa, West Indies, South America, and American South. If you are vegan, please check the menu and class descriptions that are posted on the website at https://www.hesspea.com/classes .
Experience the culture, cuisine and warmth in this 3-hour hands on cooking class paired with lively conversation and good friends. Each recipe is accompanied by the music that connects us to the food - - - Reggae, African, Caribbean, Jazz, Zydeco, Afro-Cuban, World Music, & Afro-Brazilian Rhythm. We'll begin the evening with an appetizer social and then head on into the kitchen to explore the menu, and end with a global dining experience.
Because many of the cooking practices throughtout these regions have been passed down through oral traditions from one generation to the next; the ingredients and measurements can sometimes be without record and are diverse from country to country/island to island. With this in mind, our cooking classes often prepare dishes without the use of measuring cups or written recipes. This helps you to enjoy the journey with less precision and more intuition.
The meals start with the freshest ingredients (organic when possible), are plant-based using seasonal fresh fruit & vegetables. Meals also incorporate whole grains, pasta, beans, peas, rice, lentils, sweet potatoes & corn.
Bring friends or meet new friends. Awaken your senses to not only experience a difference of taste, but to understand the heritage and culture behind the food. Also, don't forget to come on out and have some fun at our seminars, workshops, social & professional networking events!
PLEASE NOTE: Our plant-based cooking classes is a lifestyle choice centered around conscious eating habits, nutrition, health & wellness. It is not prompted by animal activism and/or the ethical treatment of animals.
