SunFish Pond 8 mile hike - Germantown Metro Park

Join us for a fast pace hike at the Germantown Metro Parks. These trails have some strenuous hills and will be tough going. We hill hike the orange trail, explore a little bit, and enjoy a snack around the SunFish pond area.

Pace - This hike is for folks who like the challenge of a faster pace hike and challenging hills. Approximately 15-20 min per mile pace. Slower on the hills of course.

The Park contains large open grasslands, cedar glades, dry hillside prairies, all stages of natural succession, several ponds, and an exceptionally high quality stream, Twin Creek. The park also benefits from the fact that it still is surrounded largely by agricultural land and the wooded Twin Creek corridor. (Photo is from Twin Creeks)

Gear - Hiking footwear and trekking poles are great if you have or desire to use them, however since this is just a day hike, I personally will just use some cross training hiking/running shoes and pack a small hydro pack. If the weather is wet then, then you should adjust to the weather conditions. Dressing in synthetic layers is the best option.

Water/Snacks - You must bring your own water.  Bringing nergy snacks is wise.

Restrooms - There will be portable toilets along the way.  The nature center may be closed.

Trail Difficulty - Yes, this is going to be strenuous hike.  Be realistic that your fitness level matches the hike description. Please send me an email if you have questions.

No Dogs please - I love dogs (have 2 large labs mylself), but prefer not to have them with us...thank you.

Post Hike - To be determined...we can put together a post hike lunch option.

Carpool - If someone wants to organize a designated ride share location to meet together, that is up to you.
