Details
Oakzanita Peak was named after the oaks and manzanita growing on the mountain slopes. This will be an out-and-back six mile hike. We will start out on the Lower Descanso Creek Trail before heading on a steady gradual climb on the Upper Descanso Creek Trail. At the top of the grade, we come to a saddle where we will take the Oakzanita Trail to the summit. There are impressive views from the top of most of the southern part of Rancho Cuyamaca State Park.Elevation gain/loss is 1200 feet. Pace will be easygoing.
Carpool meet-up location will be in El Cajon, leaving at 8:00 AM.
Bring snacks, water, poles, sunscreen and sturdy hiking shoes.
