This is a 9.2-mile hike from Wolfsville Rd near MD Rt 17 to I70-Rt 40. We will hike from North to South.
After climbing up ~ 400 ft from the trail head to the ridge of South Mountains, there is a long stretch of trail with minor elevation changes until descending at the end.
The Pogo Memorial Campground is a good place to take a break. Views from the Black Rocks and Annapolis Rocks are spectacular.
We will meet at the intersection of I-70 and Rt 40 at 9:00 AM and will shuttle to the trail head.
If the weather is bad, it will be cancelled.
If you bring a dog, please organize your own shuttle.
Direction from Baltimore to the meeting place:
• I-70 West to Frederick, then take Rt-40 West, ~15 miles (Not Rt-40 ALT), and park on the street on your left. If you see “Welcome to Washington County,” “Greenbrier State Park,” or crossing over I-70, you are gone too far.
