$5.00 min donation CAR WASH FUNDRAISER- TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC LYME DISEASE

Come on out and watch me, Jeff K or someone from Team Brooke wash your car.

$5.00 minimum donation will get you a clean car by some amazing people helping their friend (Brooke) continue treatment for Chronic Lyme

We will be at the 76 station on Fair Oaks and Walnut from noon - 4 p.m Saturday May 11. If you are doing the Koman walk come on over to get that car clean afterwards!!

We accept cash, check, credit cards!! (cash is preferred)

A little background on why we are doing this.

Brooke is a single mom who was bit by a tick many years ago. It is believed to have happened on a hike to Mt Tallac with Jeff K while training for Half Dome.  Since then she has suffered many different ailments that were unexplainable to even normal general practioners MD's and other doctors she has seen over the years.

Finally after much research and advocating on her part she got the diagnosis that she indeed suffers from Chronic Lyme Disease. After our first fund raising effort she was able to get herself to a Lyme literate doctor and pay for the very expensive appropriate tests. Her GP had determined before she had Lyme but still misdiagnosed her.

Lyme disease that is not treated properly in it's earliest stage can change someone's life dramatically creating health issues that appear to be something else, such as MS, Lupus, CFS, etc. As well as psychological. It is insidious and takes away the ability of people from being able to function on a day to day basis as they once were able to.

The biggest issue is that the medical community is not familiar with Lyme disease and there are even some who do not believe the chronic stage exists. Lots of controversy and greed surrounding the treatments available and doctors treat patients quietly.

Brooke has been receiving treatment for a year with giving her a quality of life enough to care for her young daughter and just get by on a daily basis.

We took Brooke to go walk the Golden Gate Bridge about 6 months ago.  She was able to do it and it was an improvement from her treatments but it still kicked her butt.  Remember we were training for Half Dome before the bite.

Insurance does not cover the doctor or the treatment.

More information regarding Lyme disease can be found on http://www.lymedisease.org and watching the movie under our skin http://www.underourskin.com.

Your support to help Brooke continue her treatment is much appreciated and hey...good time of year to get the outside of the car washed!

Nicole - If you have a Paypay acct, you just go to it and put in Jeff's email as the recipient. I haven't used Paypal much, but I just did it, and it was simple. But - that's if you have some $$ in a Paypal acct. I don't remember how I set that up years ago, but I know I've felt like Paypal was not user-friendly in the past! At least for this user.. ;-/

Thanks for this very important information about the difficulty of finding treatment for Lyme Disease. I am so sorry to hear this happened to Brooke and its wonderful to learn of the level of support friends are providing. I just heard of the fundraiser today and wasn't able to make it out, but am always looking for fundraising opportunities and would like to in the future.

You can Pay Pal to me at [masked] and no vacuuming Del Marie, just the out side of the cars are washed. What do you want for a minimum of $5.00? :-)
