Let's do a moderately-paced hike to the 9225 foot summit of Mt. Ralston. Those who summit, or even get close to the top, will be rewarded with outstanding 360 degree views of lakes, peaks, and alpine scenery. We may even catch a few early wildflowers blooming.
Hike is completely on trail, with no rock or scree scrambling. Any remaining snow patches will present no problem (I did this hike 3 weeks ago, and the snow has been melting fast since).
Although I will be hiking at a somewhat mellow pace, please assess your ability before deciding to attend. Hike is very steep for about 3/4 mile during the middle portion of ascent.
WILL LEAVE PARK N RIDE BY 8:15am AT THE LATEST
SUGGESTED ITEMS TO BRING:
2-3 liters of water (there is no water source on hike, and it could be warm!), poles, sturdy boots or shoes, sunhat, light fleece, rain shell (thunderstorms possible), lunch, whistle, first aid & meds, sunscreen & lip-balm, camera, sunglasses.
DIRECTION TO TRAILHEAD:
--Will drive about 67 miles east on Hwy 50 to the trailhead, located at Camp Sacramento.
***Camp Sacramento is about 1 mile east of Twin Bridges, which is just east of the tiny town of Strawberry. The last mile to the trailhead is slower and windy, and then you will see the sign "Camp Sacramento", so get into left turn lane and cross Hwy 50 to the parking lot on the north side.
I can be reached on my cell at (916)[masked] on this day....
