I lead this hike every other Monday from this trailhead. It is beautiful, but will be muddy, maybe slippery, so hiking boots are recommended. Saturday should be clear, but bring rain gear just in case. If you're running late, okay to call:[masked] Susan
You should be fit enough to walk fast (about 3mph) for 2 hours. We'll be back around 11am, give or take.
Dogs okay on leash.
There are restrooms open during daylight at two points along our way, as well as drinking fountains. But I always recommend bringing water.
It's a pretty hike, about 2 hours, mostly flat on trails and dirt paths, but partially on the paved bike path. It's fairly fast-paced, starting from Hagan Park, along the river through River Bend Park, across the bridge to William Pond Park and beyond before turning around and coming back a slightly different route. There are snakes and brambles, roots and rocks, bugs and fairly fast walkers. No complaining; you have been forewarned. (We pause after the first half-hour, so if you find yourself falling behind, just speak up and we'll talk about possibilities.)
Park in the Community Center parking lot on Chase Drive BEFORE the park entrance. Look for people standing around!
