For those of you like myself who are suffering from a winter of little hiking I will be leading this hike beginning March 15th, through the summer, and until the end of September.
This is a conditioning hike for those of us who are training and planning for a summer full of hiking and exploring. beginners should be warned that the first .9 miles of this hike is a strenuous climb.
We will be meeting at Roseville Golfland Sunsplash P&R at 6:00 PM and driving to the confluence of the American River in Auburn ravine . . . Those who want can meet us at the "Green Gate" - Gate 150 on the Pointed Rocks trail.
Directions to trailhead:
I-80 east to Auburn
Exit Elm Left on Elm Left on 49 (High Street)
Cross Lincoln Way down into canyon
Follow 49 RIGHT over bridge towards Cool
Park immediately after bridge on right side of road
Meet at the green gate #150
Please remember to bring:
- Flashlights and Headlamps (we may be hiking after dark until the days get longer so bring your personal illumination devices just in case =])
- A positive and adventurous attitude
- Plenty of water
- Appropriate clothing and shoes (be prepared for light rain, wind, fog, and cold)
For more information please contact Dale Price at (916)[masked] or by e-mail at [masked].
