Strawberry Canyon and optional Pt Isabel Dog Park EASY

UC Berkeley's Strawberry Canyon and
OPTIONAL Point Isabel Off-Leash Dog Park

These are two separate locations approximately 15 minutes apart by car.

If you don't bring your dog, you probably will skip Point Isabel, though we plan to keep it to one hour.

10:00am meet at the 11th and P Park and Ride
Please meet us there because I don't know for sure if there is parking available at the UCB Botanical Garden and we may have to improvise.

I agree it was a lot of fun. I've posted some pics, I hope you like.

BTW/FYI: I was talking Strawberry Canyon, not Point Isabel!

For those that may be curious; The hike is roughly 3-5 miles. It is uphill all the way, but it is a mellow up hill. The path is big and wide. Yes there is one good steep climb but its less than/almost 1/2 mile. (Think steep elevator type). I admit I haven't done this trail in years, but its not undoable. It is not a rock-grabber; there may be a narrow place or two but I could be wrong as well. You Will Live!

How many miles is the hike and what level?

There is parking for the trail at the trailhead on Centennial. It might possibly be busy, but there is parking downhill if you like. The Botanical Garden parking might be tighter. I know that UC is on Winter Break right now so this could be good or bad. As long as we don't have an ARMY of cars we should be Ok.

I could lead this from my bed....I used to fall out into it....ahhaha.

Seriously, what is this "Intermediate" stuff? The Fire Trail off of Centennial up to the lab? IF you really want to "train" just hike Centennial all the way to the top at Grizzly Peak. Then, if your quads aren't burning enough, oh, just go to Marin...AVENUE! Come come, San Pablo Ave all the way up to the lot...let's go...30 degree angle hills.....

      2) What did you originally have in mind for the hike? I don't want to mess up what you had in mind...Though I will say I'm thinking of catching the Football in the afternoon if it works out.

    Hi Shannon,
Is this a dog friendly hike?

The first part is on-leash, and the second part if you choose to go to Point Isabel is off-leash.
