Meneka Peak Hike

Questions: Call or email Jayne[masked] [masked]
Be early as we will leave Centreville Park & Ride promptly @ 8:30am I-66 Exit 52 onto Route 29 South about ½ mile to Park & Ride on your Right, a block before the stop light. Come earlier if you want coffee for the drive as there is a Dunkin Donuts on your left just before the Park & Ride. NOTE: use these directions not those when you click on Centreville. I've found a great restaurant in Front Royal
http://www.soulmounta... so Meneka Peak in the George Washington National Forest is my pick for this Sunday. Looks like some nice views which is always a plus.
http://www.hikingupwa... 8.6 miles, 2,075 ft elevation gain, 4 hours or less 3 out of 5 in difficulty This hike --- --
is not a Hard Core Hike AND not an easy hike. You need to have prior hiking experience and be willing to hike a bit faster than HikingUpward predicts. If you’re unsure, please contact me b4 signing up.
Hike begins 9:45 am @ the trail head. Call me when you get on the road if you are going directly to the trail head.
As usual, I've not done this hike b4, so bring a copy of the Topo Trail map and Directions to Trail Click on HikingUpward link above. For Trail Map click on Printable Topo Hike Map pdf. For Driving Directions to trail head type your starting location & click "Get Directions". Also click on Parking Area so you know what to look for.
COST. No charge to hike our National Forest trails but please offer your driver $5-$10 AND bring money for lunch.
Cancellation Policy: Lightening predicted on this website
http://weather.weathe... between 10am & 3pm cancels hike. The weather may easily be different in Metro D.C. so
ALWAYS check THIS weather site before heading out..
Hiking Boots are strongly encouraged.

When everyone is enjoying the wonderful outdoors and the company of others, and the challenge to push themselves just a bit, I smile. That's why I lead hikes. Today, again, pulled together people who knew each other & people who didn't but by the end, it was a cohesive, laughing fun group. Soule Maintain & Coffee was topping on the cake. Come again!!
