South Metro Exploratory Hike

The hike starts at 1:00.  Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to allow time to drive in, park, and find the group, as we will be leaving on the hike at 1:00.

After you turn into the park, you will follow a long gravel road to the parking lots (also gravel).  Go as far down as you can.  We will be meeting by the trailheads on the left side of the last parking lot (left side as you are driving into the park).  On the right side, there is picnic shelter and an environmental learning center - we will be on the other side - the left side, near the big map.

Facilities are rustic.  I believe there is a porta-potty still (but no guarantees).  Water has most likely been turned off.  There is a picnic shelter and fire rings on the right hand side of the park (but we are meeting on the left)

Bring water and dress for the weather.  Even though this is an exploratory hike, we will be keeping a good pace, typically above 3 miles/hour while hiking.

Thanks!  Susan104

Original Information

Come join me for an exploratory hike at Ritter Farm Park in scenic Lakeville Mn.  Ritter Farm is a huge park - over 300 acres - in the heart of Lakeville.   It has woods, prairie and lake views.  My understanding is that the trails are dirt (covered in leaves this time of year) and grass.  A good mix of moderate hills and flat prairie.  Because this is an exploratory hike, we will be going on some "new" trails and the group will be smaller.

I anticipate about a 2 hour hike, going about 5 - 6 miles.  Again, the trails are new to me, so this is a best guess and I appreciate your flexibility.  If you are familiar with the trails, send me a message, I welcome your help in planning out a route for the group.

Please be responsible with your RSVPs.  There is another TCHM hike on this same date and time.  Without breaking the laws of time/space, you cannot attend both hikes.  If you are RSVPed "yes" on both hikes, you will be removed from this one to make space for someone who can attend.

Only registered TCHM members can RSVP for this hike.  If you want to bring a guest, please have them register with the group and RSVP under their own name.

How to get there:

Take the 185th street exit from 35, go south down the frontage road (Kenrick), take a right on 195th street, and you’re there!
