What is the weather going to be like? --> WEATHER (http://www.accuweather.com/en/us/shawnee-ks/66203/march-weather/2148959)

Difficulty: Moderate/Fast-Paced (night hike, primitive trail conditions, can be dangerous, wild animals, big foot could be living near trails)

Participants should be 18+ physically fit, stable on their feet while climbing hills and walking on rocks at night. Proper hiking boots/shoes and a headlamp/flashlight is recommend! Be sure·foot·ed 1. Not liable to stumble or fall. 2. Confident and capable. 3. Good attitude ready to get moving and work-it.

Why do a Night-Hike?

Because hiking at night is awesome and so are lakeside bonfires. We will start at Shelter 6 @6:30pm before sunset and finish-up the hike after sunset around 9:00. This is the main bike trail and is somewhat primitive. The trail passes through heavy woods, along rocky hillsides and up some fairly steep hills. As always in the outdoors it is wise to (be prepared). After sunset the temperatures can drop significantly so plan accordantly.

After the hike if you decide to join us we will head down to Shelter 5 for a lakeside bonfire. Everyone who attends will volunteer to help round-up fire wood which is plentiful. The fire pit is awesome with lots of rock seating all around it. In the event there is a red flag warning the bonfire will be cancelled.

What's in it for me?

If you attend the bonfire you will have a chance to win a brand new headlamp. The contest will be held at 10:00 during the bonfire! Must be present to win!

What to bring:

Pets are welcome and must be on a leash.
2+ liters of water (non-alcoholic) beverages to enjoy
Whatever snack you prefer and something to share
Headlamp preferred or flashlight as last resort
NO alcoholic beverages allowed in the park
This is a leave no-trace event
