Our group was probably the first across First Divide (4688') in May and we will probably be the last group across First Divide this season. In May we climbed over, under, and around over 430 trees. Presently, the route is clear of all trees, rivers are low and easy to ford, and the snow on First Divide will not be to deep (12 inches or less).
This is one of my favorite treks through the SE Olympic Mountains for about 33 miles. We begin hiking 13.5 miles up the North Fork Skokomish River. Next we climb up and over First Divide and down into the Duckabush River valley. Then 17.6 miles out to the Duckabush TH.
This trip is NOT recommended for novice hikers. Participants will be required to sign a liability waiver at the trailhead. Guests are not allowed on this event - you must be a member to join us.
