• Fall Creek Hike

Fall Creek unit, Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

We will meet in the parking lot on Felton Empire Dr. - use the bathroom before you come as there are no facilities at Fall Creek - it's the watershed for Felton. Bring snacks and water. It is relatively shaded, bumpy terrain. This is an out and back hike along the creek. :)

  • Water Workout at In Shape, Capitola

    In-Shape Health Clubs

    $13.00

This will be a one-on-one water workout in the warm pool. I will show you some water aerobics moves. It will cost you $13, unless you are already a member, which will be given to In Shape and you will be attending the club as my guest. I think they will make you sign a waiver in their computer system. I will bring all the water work out gear. You will bring a suit, towel, water shoes if you want. We can do some laps in the larger cooler water pool if it's is not crowded. In Shape has a sauna, steamroom, cold plunge and jacuzzi style tub. There are separate changing rooms for men and women. I think you get to use the club for the rest of the day for your $13.

  • Shadowbrook Happy Hour

    Shadowbrook Restaurant

Let's ride the Funicular down to the Brook Room for happy hour. Meet up at the top of the incline. There are two parking lots for the restaurant and there is also a dedicated Shadowbrook Taxi that runs between the Crow's Nest and Shadowbrook. At 7pm we can go for a little walk around the neighborhood if people like. We can meet each other and talk about what kind of events we want to do in the future. The Shadowbrook is in a picturesque location and the food is pretty good. It's a special event, date night kind of place.

  • Arana Gulch/Yacht Harbor Stroll/Hike/Walk Whatever it is

Arana Gulch Multi Use Pedestrian Path

now I know my pace - 1.82 miles/45 minutes so let's see how far we can go and back in a 2 hour time window. I'm thinkin' through Arana Gulch to the Yacht harbor and maybe to the beach and back. I'll be wearing Raybans, a sunhat and a black backpack, beige shorts, black hiking poles with white trim, I have grey hair.

  • Cinco de Mayo West Cliff Walk

on the stairs in front of the Lighthouse Surf Museum

    $1.00

Let's meet at the lighthouse - this will be a relatively slow walk as I am a 2 miles an hour person unless I'm catching an airplane or something. I'll be using white hiking poles to keep up with you. We'll walk down to Natural Bridges and back. It's probably about 2 miles each way. This will give us a chance to talk and set goals for this rekindling of the group. There are bathrooms at the beginning and at the end, but not in the middle. I ask everyone to stay with the group, and if you absolutely have to leave to check in with me before doing so. This isn't vital on West Cliff, but in the past I have had to send out search parties for people when we were in the woods, and they had left without checking in, and it was getting dark, and they hadn't made it back to their cars, it's good practice, and good group manners. Bring $1, coin or paper for the organizer to help support the group.

  • Yosemite Walk/Lunch/Dinner

    Yosemite Valley

    $1.00

Let's meet at the Amphitheater at Yosemite Valley Lodge and walk to the iconic Yosemite Falls then take it from there about lunch and dinner. We can do a little of the Mist Trail, but I will only be doing a tiny portion of it. If people want to do the whole thing they can meet with the group in the morning and arrange that with whomever is there. I can meet you guys later for dinner. I play to wander around the valley and I will lead anyone that is interested on a tour of my usual haunts with lots of breaks for food and photography. This is just hanging out all day rather than a massive hike. There are reservations for Housekeeping available for Tuesday night, April 30th -google Yosemite Accommodations - or go to the national park website for a link. I timed this so people could drive up that morning if they wanted to and make a day trip out of it. I'm going to spend the night in the park the night before. Other lodging ideas for the night before are Rush Creek Lodge ($350/night) or Hotel Charlotte in Groveland or somewhere in Merced and drive up that morning. Tenaya Lodge probably has availability, and there will be last minute cancellations available possibly, but don't plan to spend the night in the park without reservations, that won't be possible, like as not, it is spring and coming into prime waterfall viewing time. It's required to bring chains if you are driving in the park, but unlikely you will need to put them on unless there is a freak snowstorm or you are driving up to Big Trees Lodge (Wawona.)
