Sam's Knob Dayhike

Rating: Moderately Strenuous
Length: 10.6 miles; 1,710 Elevation Gain
Pace: 2 mph average with plenty of stops. If you like to hike faster, this is not the hike for you.
Trail Time: Approximately 6 hours
Travel Distance: Approximately 3 hours

Description: Sam's Knob Loop
1. Start at FS816 Black Balsam Parking Lot
2. Out and Back on Sam Knob Summit Trail
3. Flat Laurel Creek Trail; will pass by a Waterfall
4. Mountains to Sea, includes an Out an Back to Devil's Courthouse
5. Little Sam Trail to Parking Lot
6. Dinner stop on the way back to Charlotte

Cost: Carpool Gas and Dinner

Special Conditions:
1. There will be some creek crossings so please bring watershoes in case they are too deep for rock hopping.
2. Weather in the Pisgah High Country is cooler and can be unpredictable.  Please bring warm layers, raingear etc. and the usuals (lunch, water (2 liters min.), snacks etc.)
3. No dogs please.
4. If we haven't hiked together, I will be contacting you to be sure this hike is a good fit for you.
