Announcing a new Meetup for Weekend Hikers...Plus!

What: Dayhike Apex Gulch

When: Saturday, July 10,[masked]:30 AM

Apex Gulch near 470/Golden
18301 W. Colfax Ave.
Denver, CO 80206

Apex Open Space Park

Entrance is at the Heritage Square amusement park
(you'll see big white ferris wheel)

Meeting place: Heritage square parking lot. North side. See directions below

The hike: Kim is going to do the enchanted forest loop. It's about a four mile hike with an elevation gain of around 500 feet. This hike is mostly in the forest so it should be shady in case this cold front moves out by then. We will start this hike from the trailhead at 9:30 am.

Elevation: about 900 ft
Steep ascent for 25% of the hike. The rest is easy.

Getting there from Denver I-25:

From the I-25 and 6th Ave intersection in Denver, go west on 6th Ave. As you get close to I-70 and Golden, you will drive under I-70 staying on 6th Ave.

After going thru the underpass, take your first left at the stoplight. You will be turning onto Hwy. 40.

Drive on 40 for about a mile. Look on the right for Heritage Park.
Pull into the Heritage Square parking lot on your right had side.
Go all the way down to the north side of parking lot next to the trailhead.
There's usually a green Sani-Can there too.

50% mild/descent 50% moderate/ascent
Precautions: bring shoes with good traction as rocky trail can be slippery; those who like walking sticks/ski poles for steep hills may want use them

BRING: water, sunscreen, good shoes or boots.

Dogs ok on a leash.
