Announcing a new Meetup for Weekend Hikers...Plus!

What: Dayhike Green Mountain (In Lakewood)

When: Sunday, January 2,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Green Mountain Park Lakewood
Denver, CO 80206

Please try and carpool. There are not a lot of parking spaces.

Dry Creek Station
Directions to the Dry Creek park-n-ride: From I-25 and E Dry Creek Rd., head west on E Dry Creek Rd to the light at S Chester St. Be in the far left lane. Make a u-turn at the light. Now heading east get into the far right lane. In maybe 100 yards the lane vears off for a right hand turn. Now take the left lane that turns up into the park-n-ride. We?ll leave from this park-n-ride at 9:30. Please be on time!!!!

This a really neat place. The views from up there of both the front range and the Metro area are fantastic. Of course if the weather is questionable check this site the morning of the outing to see if it has been canceled.

Directions to the trailhead: Take U.S. 6 west from Denver to the Simms St/Union St. exit. Turn left onto South Union and go 1.8 miles. Turn right onto Alameda Ave. and go 1.5 miles to the parking area on your right. We'll start the hike around 11:00 am.

The 'hike'? There are a few trails up there. We'll be doing somewhat of a loop. We'll be going about 3.5 miles with an elevation gain of about 800 ft. This hike should take around 3.5 hours. There is little cover up there so have some wind protection along with warm clothes in layers. This time of year I always have with me a daypack with a few pairs of gloves, mittens, a warm cap and a scarf. And hot chocolate.

Gerard and his buddies are welcome here and if you spray oven spray on their paws ice and snow doesn't stick to them. Use the butter flavored the they'll just lick their paws the whole time.
