Sunday Afternoon Walk - Kinnaird Ravine & Little Italy

Sunday Afternoon Walk - Kinnaird Ravine & Little Italy

Where:
Kinnaird Ravine
111th Ave & 82nd Street
Edmonton , AB   T5H 1L7

We will meet @ 1:15PM, and start the walk @ 1:30 PM

How to find us: We will meet at the top of the ravine by the children's playground @ the corner of 111th Ave & 82nd St. There is residential parking across from the park. If there are events at the Stadium or Northlands, there will be a parking ban in which case we switch the location for the walk to Mill Creek or Laurier.

We will walk down into the ravine on the park trail to the river, and then from there several different loop trips are possible, leading back into the ravine and up to where we started. The walk is at most approximately 9.2 Km and typically takes 2 hours. We stop 3 or 4 times to ensure all are present. If you concerned about being left behind or unable to keep up, please let the leader and other coordinators know.

Guests and dogs are welcome. All dogs must be leashed and sociable. We walk trails that are shared with other walkers, runners, cyclists, and dogs. Not only are participants responsible for taking precautions for their own safety but are also expected to set good examples. Our walks are in the river valley so a reasonable level of fitness is required considering the terrain and who else uses the trails.

We don't let the weather or trail conditions hold us back. So come join us ... and be sure to dress for the weather. Be sure to wear suitable footwear for the season. Sneakers are not suitable at any time of the year, least of all when there is ice, snow or mud on the trial. Hiking boots are recommended and "spikes" or "grippers" are essential for winter and early spring hiking. During warmer weather occasionally there are muddy patches on the trail. A water bottle is also recommended.

This walk does not have a cafe on route, so after the walk we will visit one of the coffee shops in "Little Italy"on 95th Street at 109th Avenue, to recharge our batteries. Our favorite is Zocalo's because it has good treats and a greenhouse sitting area.

Join us for fitness, fellowship - and fun!

Brian, I will be at the T intersection as usual on my bicycle. Please advise if you plan to go anything out of the ordinary (i.e. Right turn to shelter)
