Saturday Morning Walk @ Rundle Park

  • to
  • This location is shown only to members

  • A few people were asking about having a walk on the east side of town and perhaps earlier in the morning so we are done by noon. All suggestions are welcome!

We will start at Rundle Park (2909 - 113 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB - park in the lot furthest west as you drive past the ACT Centre) then we will walk together over the walking bridge to Gold Bar Park then west all the way to 50th Street.

From there we will have a few options. We could either walk south until we reach the corner of 106th Avenue for a break at the Blues Java Bar for a rest and purchase a snack or if we brought our own food we could have a rest and picnic at the Capilano Park shelter. Then we will retrace our steps and go back to Rundle Park and to our vehicles.

On the Google map, it says it should take about 45 minutes to walk one way or 3.4 km (6.8 km in total). We will take some breaks along the way, as required, to allow people to catch up.

We want to start on time so please arrive at 9:15 am so we head out by 9:30 am. If you are lost, feel free to call Doris at[masked]-2125.

What to bring: Water, money for cafe or food for picnic, hat, sunscreen, bug spray and your fabulous personality!

Dogs and guests are welcome. All dogs must be leashed and sociable. We walk trails that are shared with other walkers, runners, cyclists, and dogs, so each participant is responsible for taking precautions. Our walks are in the river valley so a reasonable level of fitness is required considering the terrain and who else uses the trails.

Morning walking would be a great thing in my world.

There is fabulous off trail walking at Whitemud park during the winter months if you haven't already
done that. The Millwoods trail is quite wonderful.

If it gets colder than -20 Celcius with windchill factor, this walk will be cancelled as it is considered too dangerous to be outside for long periods.
