Parking lot of the Westridge Wolf Willow Country Club Community League on Wolf Willow Road

Location image of event venue

This walk starts at the Westridge Wolf Willow Country Club Community League parking lot. When you drive on 170 Street, turn east to Wolf Willow Road (aka 69 Ave) and follow the road to the community league. Be there at 1:15 PM.

The map above shows the route we will take (left is north!). Hope it isn't to long! Less than 5 Km. This walk is will get the ticker going and bring you back to life. We start at the community league parking lot and head down into the Rio Park ravine and climb back up to a beautiful look-out over the river. Then its down the big stairs to the Fort Edmonton foot bridge (don't worry we're staying on the west side of the river). We take a right and walk up the gentle incline to the Wolf Willow neighbourhoods. Just outside the Wolf Willow "gates" off of Wanyandi Way is a path to the right which takes us back to the parking lot. And coffee ... either at the Starbucks at 170 St and Wolf Willow Rd or at the Second Cup at 177 St and 69 Ave (which is Wolf Willow Rd going west). Please note, there are no washrooms or out-houses on this walk ... lots of bushes.

The walk will proceed regardless of weather conditions, so be sure to come equipped appropriately, including a water bottle or thermos for hydration, a snack for energy and good, sturdy outdoor or walking footwear. Sneakers or running shoes are not appropriate and the trail may be muddy. Grippers or spikes must be worn in the winter months due to snow and ice conditions.

We walk trails that are shared with other walkers, runners, cyclists and dogs. Not only are participants responsible for taking precautions for their own safety but are also expected to set good examples. Our walks are in the river valley so a reasonable level of fitness is required considering the terrain and the trails usage by others. I stop at regular intervals so don't worry about be left behind. If you decide to leave the walk, please let me know. And please stay with the group; if we are too slow or too fast, let me know (maybe this is not the right walking group for you).
