Hi folks! Please join us for a nice, two hour walk up to a scenic vista, at Peters Rock hiking trails in North Haven. This hike involves a significant amount of uphill walking, though no "climbing." This non-competitive group walks at a pace that is manageable for the average person. Please do request water and resting breaks as needed, and the group will kindly accommodate.
Please also bring your own decent-sized bottle of water! You are more likely to regret being without it than to regret carrying it with you. Directions: Please check this post for an update providing directions and parking notes. Those who RSVP for the walk will receive an email when directions have been posted.
Donation: Contributions of $1-2 will be collected and given to the group's Organizer; these donations collected during the hiking season will cover the yearly cost of posting events on the Meetup (please note that the site requires year-round membership fees, even for seasonal groups).
DIRECTIONS: It is likely that this park is NOT on Google Maps or GPS. Follow these instructions (maybe write them down like in the old days):
Take I-91 to Exit 8. If you are coming from NH (driving on 91 North), bear left onto middletown avenue. If you are heading down 91 South, go right at the end of the exit ramp, and drive to the first light. There, take a left onto middletown.
Once on Middletown avenue, please drive 2 miles [north] to the intersection of Route 5. You will see a gas station on the right, and should make your way into the parking lot BEHIND the gas station, which is not quite visible from the road. Once you approach the lot, you will see a hiking trail map and other recognizable signs of this being a park, as well as Meetup folks likely standing around. If the lot fills up and you cannot park there, please consult with hiking leader re: parking across the street; it may not be a good idea to leave your car at the gas station (possible tow/ticket?).
