Barton Creek - Starting from Travis Country Circle (back entrance)

Barton Creek Greenbelt - Back entrance - Travis Country Circle

Decided I'd like for it to be a bit cooler before we try the ~11 mile shuttle hike along the South side of Lake Georgetown. So Barton Creek again.

After crossing Barton Creek going south, get onto the Mopac frontage road then take a right onto Southwest Parkway. If you hit 290 & 71 you have gone too far. Stay on Southwest Parkway - take the first right onto Republic of Texas Blvd and again the first right off of that onto Travis Country Circle.  Take the second left which is Canyonwood Dr, when this dead ends back onto Travis Country Circle. Park in the dirt parking lot on the other side of the street from Canyonwood.

Maybe we will talk about current affairs - what would you like to issue a FOIA request on (Area 51, NSA, FBI surveillance of Masters and Johnson, ,,,) Hugos were just awarded for Science Fiction - what should we hand out our own awards for? Best form while hiking? videogames can make brains younger in old people - are we still going to blame youth violence on them when all the octogenarians are playing? If you got to name all the planets in a system .. Huey, Dewey and Louie, or .. what? Did you know that the CU student body named their cafeteria after the only man ever convicted in the US of cannibalism?

We will have a 3-4 hour hike, wear good shoes, bring water for you and dogs if you bring them, try to be on time - otherwise please call. Hopefully I will have a working cell phone by then.

Darnit, I was a little late getting there, as it was a longer drive than I expected. So sorry I missed everyone. Will try again next week. :)

Great hike today! Thanks Dave ... and thanks Maddix for the picture of the snake - since you got it we didn't have to get close. :-)

For dog owners: Be aware there have been coyotes spotted with their young in the preserve areas and neighborhoods near this entrance to the Greenbelt. Dogs are currently banned from other preserve areas in my neighborhood (less than one mile from this meeting spot). This morning a gentleman spotted two coyotes near the entrance to my apt community (between 7-7:45 am).
