Hike Spicewood Valley

We will hike for approx 1.5 hours or we can make it longer for those who want to and have the time. Parts of the trail are rocky with small hills. Dogs are always welcome. As always, bring extra water for the dog and clean up bags as I'm not sure there are any at the trail.

Directions:From Hwy 183 in NW Austin, head south on Spicewood Springs Rd, left if your coming North, right if you are coming South. Travel approx. 2 miles to Scottland Well Drive, turn right. Travel another mile and turn right on Middlebie Dr. There is a park at the end of the road. We'll meet at the end of the road at the park bench.

Lucky neighborhood to have this little gem! Just the perfect walk (length and a bit of a workout/elevation gain) and enough shade for a hot summer day. Thanks, Lisa.

A nice hike. I would never have discovered this trail on my own. Thanks to everyone who went and to Lisa for organizing it in spite of her very busy schedule!

Yes, this is an 8:30 AM hike. The PM listing is an error. As I mentioned any questions regarding the hikes, please email me directly. This makes for a more timely response. Thanks

Probably Spicewood Valley Park is just a typo...Mountain View Park is where it is.

I saw that, too. Am thinking the hike is in that big greenbelt between the park and 183.

Not sure yet if I'm going or not, however... I can't find any Spicewood Valley Park in existence, using either maps or a google web search. When I click on the link it takes me to a google map with Mountain View Park.

I would like to go, but 8:30 seems a bit late. What about meeting at 7pm?

I hope Lisa gets back with us soon on the time.

Yeah, but my phone has terrible battery life, and I don't wanna waste it on the flashlight app. No reason I can't carry a flashlight; I was just wondering, like you, if the time is correct.

I am scheduled to be in San Saba Sunday AM but hope to make it back in time for the hike.

Most cell phone have a flashlight app on them.

Yeah, I'm wondering if I'll need a flashlight for the last hour of the hike.

This says it is an evening hike (8:30 PM) - is that correct?
