Hike # 10 - Joseph D. Grant County Park ~ 11 Miles

The Hike: We'll start clockwise from the parking lot inside the park near the visitor center. We'll go south on a trail following a creek and eventually we will go up to get on the Dutch Trail (Bay Area Ridge Trail) to begin our return loop. We'll take a snack break on one of the peaks overlooking the view of San Jose. I'd consider this an intermediate hike which means a strong workout hike for beginners and a nice hike for advanced. See below for trail details.

Parking: Travel to the park by taking Highway 101 or Highway 680 to Alum Rock Avenue eastbound in San Jose. Turn right onto Mt. Hamilton Road and travel eight miles to reach the park entrance. Please take note that the road is very narrow and windy and so drivers keep your eye on the road. Once you make a right into the park ($6 fee), park in the first parking lot on your left near the visitor center. My dark blue honda CRV should be around there. Look below for map location.

Meeting point: I'll try to be visible somewhere in the parking lot near my car or at the visitor center. Call if you are running late or get lost at[masked]

Optional After hike event:
Alum Rock Family Restaurant
Thai Lovers Restaurant

It would be nice if folks would stay with the leader and not run ahead so much, but it was great anyway!

The great hikes just keep on coming. This was another part of the Bay Area that I didn't know about -- the location was off the beaten path, with only a couple other groups hiking besides us, yet close enough to civilization for the group to bond over some beers afterwards. Very nice group of folks.

A very enjoyable hike on a warm (dare I say it?) spring-like day. Friendly group as usual; thanks for organizing Hugo!

Beautiful scenery, excellent and challenging exercise, Hugo & Tom excellent organizers, very friendly group. Intermediate level was challenging enough that I'll have to train until I can go on an advanced level hike.
