Coyote Creek (Metcalf Park to Anderson Lake)

Distance: 11 mi

Elevation Gain: 400 ft

Duration: 5 hrs

BART Coverage: 9 mi

Difficulty: Easy

Meeting Point (Address above is only approximate)

Anderson Lake County Park at the top of the dam.  Get off 101, Cochrane Rd exit, heading East.  At the end of Cochrane Rd head up to the parking lot at the top of the reservoir.  There is a parking fee, but wait till we form up the shuttle group before paying for parking.

This is an easy but longish hike along a paved road which is essentially flat except the last part going up to the top of the dam.  I'm choosing this trail to avoid a muddy walk and let folks ease into the New Year.  It will be a brisk walk and there is a chance of rain, so please be prepared for it.  Choose comfortable shoes over boots.  We will meet at Anderson Lake Dam and shuttle to parking lot near Metcalf Park for our starting point.  From there we walk to meeting point at Anderson Lake.

To get to the starting point at Metcalf Park, get back onto 101 North and after 5 miles, take the Bailey exit.  Turn left on Bailey and then right on Monterey Rd.  After 2 miles turn into parking lot on the right.  Slow down as it is easy to miss the entrance (0.3 mi after Metcalf Rd).

Really catching up with the regulars and meeting some new folks. Ditto on Heidi's comment regarding the weather. Thanks Edmond.

Not one of the prettiest, but it was fun to be out with the group again. Thanks Edmond. (If I were you I wouldn't take Heidi's credit for controling the weather; that is fraught with danger ...)

Edmond had the weather under total control. The first rain drop fell as we were taking our boots off in the parking lot at Anderson Dam. Thank you for a pleasant hike!

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a ride from the East Bay Area. If possible, If I could be picked up at a bart station or I could meet you at a different place that is along your way. I would be happy to contribute gas money for the ride.
