Join Econfina Section Leader, Mary Thurman, Saturday, March 30, 2013 for our 6th Annual Flower Hike on Upper Econfina. This hike acknowledges and rewards its trail maintainers during the most beautiful time of year with blooming Azaleas and Mountain Laurel, just to name a few of the wildflowers we may see.
We will meet at the Scotts Road trailhead, just off of HWY 231 north of Fountain, at 9:00am. Those of you wishing to carpool from the Winn Dixie in Lynn Haven may wish to meet at 8:00. (Due to the large number of hikers we will have for this activity, Water Management has asked us to carpool as much as possible to avoid any parking issues at the trailhead.)
After a brief safety talk, we will hike in from Scotts Rd approximately 4 miles, have lunch, and then return to our vehicles, making this an 8 mile hike. There will be no shuttling of cars. If you prefer a longer or shorter trip, get with either myself or Ron Peterson and we will try to work out a trip that better meets your needs.
Bring bug spray, sunblock, lunch and plenty of water as this is an all-day hiking activity. DON’T FORGET YOUR CAMERAS!!! This is a hike that is sure to please the senses. Also, any ‘wildflower field guides’ you may have would certainly be useful.
Please wear orange as this hike will be during ‘Spring Turkey’ hunting season. We will want to stay on or close to the trail to minimize any conflicts with the hunters that also use this beautiful area.
Space is limited so get your RSVP in early as this hike may fill up fast.
*Activity Leaders: Please use the comment box when you RSVP to let me know for sure if you want to help. This will tell me how many Co-Leaders we will have for this hike.
