It is important that you show up because we have turned in our headcount. We are obligated to pay for our reservation.
Join us for a visit to the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown!
The Settlement is arranging a lunch for us, so PLEASE HONOR YOUR RSVP.
One of our brand new Activity Leaders, Sue Eickhof, is leading this activity!
The Pioneer Settlement features 18 historic buildings dating from the 1820s through the 1940s, set on 5 acres. Our 1 1/2 hour guided tour starts at 10 AM. Our guide will lead us through the buildings where we will learn about the history of the area, watch demonstrations, and visit farm animals that the kids will especially enjoy. During our visit the Settlement will be featuring a custom knife show, and the blacksmith shop will be in operation.
Immediately following the tour we will be treated to a hearty "old-fashioned" lunch with chicken and dumplings, greens, beans, dessert, and beverages.
The settlement has arranged a special price for the tour-plus-lunch at $16 per person. It will be helpful if you bring exact change. Cost for children will be less (TBD).
After our tour and lunch, for those who wish to spend a little more time in Blountstown, we will walk on a portion of the lovely Blountstown Greenway.
We will meet at 8 am at the Winn Dixie in Lynn Haven, and plan to arrive at the Settlement about 15 minutes before the 10 AM tour.
Don't forget to tip your driver appropriately for gas if you ride with someone.
In case any of you wish to drive over separately from Panama City, take SR 20 into Blountstown and, before reaching the center of town, turn left (north) on Silas Green St (19th St) and proceed about 1 1/2 miles to the Settlement.
Bring your camera, hat, sun screen and bring the kids! But sorry, no pets for this activity.
