Meiss Meadow ($5 for Parking)

Details
Duration: 6 miles ish
Description: Meiss Meadow is near Carson Pass. It's very beautiful and it's the perfect time to see a lot of wild flowers. Meiss is a beautiful meadow and there are great views from the ridge we will climb over. The dogs enjoy playing in the pond at the top. There are a couple of small stream crossings, but they are easy to cross.
We will do about 6 miles and it's a climb up over the ridge and down into the meadow. Our destination and lunch spot is the Meiss homestead cabin. There is a creek behind it for the dogs. Then, we need to do the reverse in the afternoon, in the sun!!! This will be an out and back with a lunch stop and turn around at the cabin. The high will be about 68 degrees.
Plan for a leisurely hike. We stop often for photographers, and dog water play. (average is 1 mph including the lunch stop)
How to RSVP (based on the number of dogs):
- Bringing 1 dog, RSVP for yourself/dog & 0 guests.
- Bringing 2 dogs, RSVP with yourself (first dog) & 1 guest (your other dog).
- No dogs coming with you, no problem, just let me know so I can adjust the limit accordingly.

We hike off leash as much as possible. We leash the dogs when needed for other dogs and some people. You must have voice control over your dog if you allow it off leash. You are responsible for any fines/repercussions for your dog being off leash. (We have never had an issue.)
Please arrive 15 minutes early to get your gear ready to hike. We will only wait 5 minutes for latecomers. If late, you will probably be able to catch up with us easily. We start out slow, picking up after pooping dogs and photographers taking photos.
Last minute cancellations are frowned upon. Please cancel at least 24, preferably 48 hours in advance, especially if there are dogs on the wait list.
If you need to cancel because of a last minute emergency, please do so before 6:30 am the day of the hike. Otherwise we won't get notification. If you are lost or late, call or text 916-307-8743. Hopefully I will have cell service.
More Information: Trails are shared by joggers, hikers, bikers, horseback riders. The rule is the bikers yield to hikers and hikers and bikers yield to horseback riders (especially important to control the pups from spooking the horses ). There are vault toilets in the parking lot.
