Off Exit 9
Clifton Park, NY
Black Mountain is the tallest mountain in the Lake George region at 2646 feet. Our round trip mileage will be approximately 6 miles with elevation gain of 1076 feet. The views from the summit are great so let's hope for a clear day.
This is a moderately strenuous climb. Hikers should be in good shape, have been doing regular aerobic activity and be comfortable with climbing and exertion. We will also be climbing in cold, snowy and icy conditions so hikers should be comfortable with that aspect as well. We will need snowshoes and/or microspikes. Make sure your snowshoes have good traction and bindings so that you don't have trouble climbing or descending in them. Hikers should dress in non-cotton layers and bring lunch, snacks, water, a rain/wind layer, a great attitude and whatever else you feel you need for a hike like this.
I am new to the region, and looking forward to meeting other outdoor enthusiasts.
