• GameNight! at BIG LOUIE'S BAR & GRILL every Tuesday, in Crystal (a NEW location)

    • What we'll do ... It's a NEW location for Tuesday night GameNight! at BIG LOUIE'S BAR and GRILL in Crystal, MN Join us on Tuesday nights for a weekly board game meetup at BIG LOUIE'S BAR and GRILL in Crystal. As a courtesy to our hosts, please buy some food or drinks and tip generously (we take up their tables for an entire night). Here is their menu link: http://biglouiesbarandgrill.com/files/bl/menu.pdf Here is their main website link: http://www.biglouiesbarandgrill.com/ Please bring games if you have them so we'll have plenty to choose from. Official start time is 5:00pm but if people show up early or later that's okay, too. (Mark likes to show up around 3:30pm, for example...) They do close at 2am. We generally play "modern" board games as opposed to old standards like Monopoly or Scrabble. They run from light, breezy games that take 15-30 minutes or more up to "brain burner" ones that go for a couple of hours. But even if you haven't played board games since Candyland, don't be intimidated. Teaching games is something we do every meetup, and half the fun is learning something new. There are so many games out there that nobody has seen them all. We welcome gamers of all races, genders, orientations, religions, backgrounds, experience level and anything else you can think of - let's play some games! Hope to see you there! Your host, Chris Hoppe TTFN! • What to bring Bring yourselves! LOL ... and maybe any friend who you'd also like to play boardgames with. • Important to know P.S. .... Look for the boardgamers with piles of cardboard game boxes nearby. Signage may be displayed to help you spot the group... Call or text Chris Hoppe if you need more information or help at:[masked]

  • Thursday GameNight! at the Chatterbox Pub -- Every Fourth Thursday of the month!

Another opportunity to play boardgames at a friendly place to spent an evening... The Chatterbox Pub. This location is well known for it's support of gameplayers. They have some old school videogames to play, but we invite you to join us and play some newer games, maybe BETTER games? ...You decide! I think they are one of the better places to hold our GameNight! Meetups at. Their beer selection is very above average, lots of choices, and some hard to find brews that craft beer snobs like me enjoy. The food is better than most "pub grub" - there's a lot of good variety beyond the burger and hot dog sort of food. Best of all is the support from the owner and management staff. They ASKED us to hold a regular boardgame event at their location, and they seriously like to welcome folks to stay and play games. They even have a Groupon special at the moment, and other specials are often available. Got anything better to do on a Thursday night? I mean, besides going down to the local pub and having some fun with your boardgame friends? (Okay, fine go do that, then.) (We'll be here next time when you feel more like joining us....) (SO THERE!) (LOL.) As a courtesy to our hosts, please buy some food or drinks and tip generously (we take up their tables for a long part of the night). Here is their menu link: http://www.chatterboxpub.net/midtownmenu.html Here is their main website link: http://www.chatterboxpub.net/ Here is a link to a Groupon offer (the link might expire, check it out soon!): https://www.groupon.com/deals/chatterbox-pub-9?z=skip&utm_medium=afl&utm_campaign=206976&mediaId=212556&utm_source=GPN&sid=78854cb4-2f4e-4216-850b-23dbbbb07541&wid=www.google.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ChatterboxPub/photos/a.10153615561508266/10157960045503266/?type=1&theater Twitter: https://twitter.com/ChatterboxPub Google Maps: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chatterbox+Pub/@44.9393759,-93.2413341,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x87f62815ef77b093:0xc0700cdecfdde365!8m2!3d44.9393759!4d-93.2391454?hl=en So.... Please bring some of your games if you have them so we'll have plenty to choose from. Official start time is 6:00pm but if people show up later that's okay, too. we can stay and play boardgames until 11pm. Maybe even later if that is how it should go! (They stay open until 1am. It's a bar, after all....) We generally play "modern" board games as opposed to old standards like Monopoly or Scrabble. They run from light, breezy games that take 15-30 minutes or more up to "brain burner" ones that go for a couple of hours. • GameNight! goes to the Twin Cities 400 Tavern! (every 4th Sunday of each month)

If it's Sunday, it's GameNight again! For the fourth Sunday of every month, we have a reservation for the group at the Twin Cities 400 Tavern... in Minneapolis! Expect Good food, good drinks, good servers, a good location, and good ambiance. (OMG, we are going to cross the river, visit the enemy to the west, get lost in the outskirts of the cities...) LOL! Actually, I found this newly remodeled hotel restaurant/bar just over the border... in the area by where I-35W, Hwy. 36, and MN Hwy 280 all sort of meet and get tangled up in the industrial park between the twin cities. You won't even need a passport! It's a nice place with a large meeting room area just for us to use all night long. Good menu, good bar and beer selection, I really hope you will like it, it has a lot to offer. Here is some website and menu information... https://www.tc400tavern.com/ https://www.tc400tavern.com/lunch-dinner-menu/ https://www.tc400tavern.com/bar-menu/ (And as always, please remember to tip your servers generously!) So, you ask... Why Move GameNight!™ to a new place every week? Because I want to stir up the humdrum regularity of the same place every week routine that GameNight! got into after being a Meetup for over six years, that's why! Sure the games are often new, and always fun, and it's great to see all the regulars who show up often enough that we usually have over twenty to thirty or more players on any given Sunday night. But getting out of the house should be special, and a new spot to enjoy every week will help do just that. Plus, there's no law that says we can't go back to a favorite place from the past. One more thing... you are welcome (and encouraged) to suggest a location that you'd like to see used for this series of Meetups in the future. Saint Paul area has been where we have met usually (scattered North, South, East, and elsewhere in town), but I am open to anywhere that is popular with the group members. So make a comment below to let me know what and where YOU want to play boardgames, okay? How our Boardgamer Meetup group works is simple: I always bring a bunch of my games that I think are good for our group. Old, new, hard, easy, weird, you name it. The folks who show up pick or suggest what they'd like to play... Enough people, and we can play several games at once. Easy-peasy, it's just like a democracy! (But more fun.) What's next and new? We shall see. Bring anything you'd like to play (and maybe teach to the group). We could even go back and replay a game that we liked before. Imagine that! See you there, and remember what Wil Wheaton says... "Play more games!" Your host, Chris Hoppe TTFN! • Important to know Go to the back of the restaurant, we have a reservation for their party room. Look for the host ... (Chris Hoppe,[masked] if you need to text/talk to me for more information) ... get a nametag, meet some new gameplaying friends, and have fun!

  • GameNight! at The Exchange Food & Drink, ... every first Sunday of the month!

If it's Sunday, it's GameNight! again! For the first Sunday of every month, we have a standing reservation for the group at The Exchange Food & Drink, in New Brighton. I am kinda excited about this spot that I recently found. It's located towards the North side of Saint Paul, has a nice party room just for us, offers a full bar and very reasonably priced food selections. Classy place too. Heck they even have a shuffleboard table... FREE! I hope you want to check it out and will like it as much as I do... Here is a link to their website: http://exchangefoodanddrink.com/ And here is a link to their menu: http://exchangefoodanddrink.com/menu As always, a quick reminder that the best way to ensure our host knows we appreciate the use of their comfortable, fun, place to play our boardgames ... ... is to order a bite to eat, something to drink, and to tip our server generously. We take a lot of time to be waited on for a whole evening, they provide a nice atmosphere and lots of amenities, so be nice back. It's good karma! Question... Why Move GameNight!™ to a new place every week? Because I want to stir up the humdrum regularity of the same place every week routine that GameNight! had got into after being a Meetup for over five years, that's why! Sure the games are often new, and always fun, and it's great to see all the regulars who show up often enough that we usually have over twenty to thirty players on any given Sunday night. So make a comment below to let me know what and where YOU want to play boardgames. How our Boardgames Meetup group works is simple: I always bring a bunch of my games that I think are good for our group. Old, new, hard, easy, weird, you name it. Regular members bring some of their own games to play, which gives us more than we ever need to fill the time each night. Then the folks who show up pick or suggest what they'd like to play... We always have enough people, and we can play several games at once. Easy-peasy, it's just like a democracy! But more fun ... so what's gonna be next and new? We shall see. Bring anything you'd like to play (and maybe teach to the group). We could even go back and replay a game that we liked from before. Imagine that! See you there, and remember: "Play more games!" Your host, Chris Hoppe TTFN! Final note: We play in the restaurant's party room, in our own private section! Park in their lot, go in past the hostess station, and turn left to find the door where we have our reserved room. Look for the Meetup host (Chris), get a nametag, have fun for hours. • Multigroup GAMENIGHT! at THIRD STREET POST in Stillwater first Wed. every month

I want to invite you to another of my favorite monthly events ... boardgames at the Third Street Post, downtown Stillwater, with the Stillwater Gamers. (as well as many other Meetup groups) The usual turnout of gamers is enough for several games to all be played at once! I have been going to this every month for a couple years now, they have recently moved to a NEW location, the Third Street Post, in downtown Stillwater MN. This group always has a good mixture of easy and harder boardgame-type games, some are good for icebreakers and to introduce newer players to the sport/hobby/whateveryouwanttocallit... others are new stuff, right off kickstarter, and some are good as filler at the end of an evening. Here's what the Stillwater Meetup group leader has to say... "We would love to see you at the next Stillwater Board Game MeetUp. As always, if there is a game you would like to run please leave a comment below. Additionally, if there is a game you would like to play, leave a comment as well and someone will likely have it and be willing to play it. We typically have between 12-16 people and try to get in a couple rounds of games in a given night." It's all about casual folks that can either teach you a new game, or knock your socks off in a hard-fought boardgame challenge! You get to choose what to play. Want to take a short trip out to the wilds of the Stillwater area? Drop in with us, on every first Wednesday of the month, while we try to mix beer, buddies, and boardgames.... may the best person win! Your organizer/co-host, Chris Hoppe (more details...) Look for the all the folks with boardgame boxes! TEXT (or call)[masked] for more information.

  • GameNight! at Green Mill Restaurant & Bar FREE PIZZA FOR EVERYBODY** THIS MONTH!

If it's Sunday, it's GameNight! again! FREE PIZZA FOR EVERYBODY!!** **some restrictions apply.... Once again, this Green Mill has donated a $50 gift card to the group. By popular vote last month we decided to share it equally with everyone who comes and is still there at 9pm. At that time I will order an assortment of pizza which is at half price for happy hour, so we'll get twice as much. When it is ready, EVERYBODY get their fair share!! ... If only all our GameNight! locations were as generous. LOL. For the second Sunday of every month, we have a standing reservation for the group at the Green Mill Restaurant & Bar at the intersection of Grand and Hamline Avenues.
