Potential Meeting Topic: Health of Houston Survey

From: Ed G.

HRUG-

Dr. Stephen Linder runs the "Health of Houston" survey (http://bit.ly/IxeHyG), that seeks to uncover and map health conditions across the greater Houston area.  The survey is a rich data source and currently there are more opportunities for it than resources to do the work.  I have talked with Dr. Linder about potentially coming to talk with our group about the latest survey results, and where he sees data analysis opportunities, but I wanted to find out if there is an interest in this from the group.  This wouldn't be an R topic per se, but it would be a good opportunity for those looking for a data project to learn more about the project.  It also might make a good dataset to use for some R beginner workshops in the future. Finally, it would be a good way for our group to make a difference in the community by applying analysis skills to shape future healthcare policy in our community.

If you could let me know:

1. your interest in this.

2. whether you would prefer to have this meetup in the summer or in the fall (I realize this may be of interest to academics who may not be here for the summer).

Thanks,

Ed
