August Field Trip: Shoot the Milky Way

This date is prime for shooting the Milky Way on the West Coast. Optimal hours are from 9:30 PM until 5:00 AM. We will meet at 9:00 PM just past the intersection of Hi Mountain Road and Upper Lopez Canyon Road about a half mile East of Lopez Lake. From there we can move to higher view points on Upper Lopez Canyon Road or down through the canyon on Hi Mountain Road. Bring your best lens, a tripod and a head lamp. I recommend you wear thick pants, high ankle boots or spats to protect from thick brush and rattlers.

You may want to scout that area ahead of the event to find your favorite view point. Remember, some foreground reference objects such as trees, rock, barns or horses may enhance your image.
