We will start the day @ Powhite Park from the rear entrance trail head around 11 a.m. I will only be showing the highlights of this park & we'll rack up about 3 miles there.

    Directions: Powhite Park (Rear entrance)
6700 Block of Greenvale Dr. Richmond Va. 23225 ( Take Grenvale Dr. all the way down to the culdasac / deadend )

    Level : Intermediate / Advanced

    Trail Type : Singletrack MTB

Pace : Moderate / Steady Tempo

Group Rules : This will be a NO DROP ride. That means no one will get left far behind, we will stop and regroup.

Description Of Trails: Powhite is a moderately difficult, intermediate trail system, with fast flowing singletrack. There are some rocky sections, log piles, roots, and some bermed turns. Perhaps the highlight of this “hidden gem” is the “THE BUZZ”, which is a dryed out creekbed that has been turned into a fast flowing section with plenty of bermed turns, rollers, and banked sections. You can drop into and out of the creek bed as if it were a half-pipe.

At 12:35 P.M. the ride will continue dropping in from Forest Hill Park Off 42nd Street & then we'll continue foward doing the entire jrps loop. This Loop encompasses buttermilks, belle isle, northbank & dogwood dell. We will be covering 13 miles on this loop. Total miles with powhite park est. 16 miles.

Description Of Trails: Forest Hill park is about 100 acres and has 3.2 miles of trails.  The trails have been used as part of the Xterra Off-Road triathlon race numerous times since 2000 and were completely over-hauled in 2009.  Since the trail system is so small, most people combine them with Buttermilk, North Bank, and Belle Isle to create a longer route.  The trail system would be considered flowing singletrack with several long climbs

The Downtown Express way has a .70 toll as well as the forest hill ave. exit .70 toll

Meetup participants coming from hampton roads may want to bypass downtown to avoid dominion river rock traffic & use the toll expressway to get to powhite park instead. 64 to 95 south. Right exit to 195 Downtown Expressway (70 cent toll) Stay on 76 & take the Forest Hill Ave Exit. Left on forest hill. Right on bliley Rd. Gps to greenvale drive from there

Ok, there may be a slight route change after forest hill. With the dominion river rock event going on we may want to avoid belle isle & the northbank completely. Although the Thule Urban Assault Mountain Bike Race is sat, the event is offering a bunch of clinics & guided rides on belle & the northbank side. The alternate route would probably end up being powhite, forest hill, buttermilks, dogwood dell & back to forest hill.
