Bike Ride on the Yorktown Battlefield, Yorktown

  • Jul 14, 2012 · 9:45 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Join us for a casual (11-14 mph) bike ride around the Yorktown Battlefield.  There is light traffic for only about a mile then the rest is on mostly-deserted shady battlefield roads.  It is mostly flat, with a few rolling hills. There is one short, steep hill that can navigated fairly easily or walked up. While on the public road, please be sure to follow all traffic rules and signs and ride single-file.  Be sure to check your tire pressure and bike condition before leaving home.

Road bikes and hybrids are best, but feel free to ride your mountain bike if that works for you. We will stop as needed for breaks and water.  The ride is about 15 miles and should take around 2 hours.

Please wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, bug spray and sunscreen as needed.

I will meet you in the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center parking lot near the entrance.  Look for my red Toyota Corolla. I have a gold bike and a blue helmet.  We will meet between 9:45 and 10 am, with the ride starting at 10 am.

If anyone wants to, we can stop in at the Yorktown Pub after the bike ride.

This ride will be cancelled if it is storming.

Good fun! Enjoyed the tour of the battlefield, the company and the lunch after.

Might you consider starting earlier to avoid the midday heat?
