Re: [camping-129] A call to act

I'm with Donnetta, I'm 38 and I hardly call myself old, LOL!!!!!!

Matt, what is the possibility of putting this trip together on the
weekend of November 10th?

Mike, I hate to speak for Matt, but I was in OBX - Alligator River last
weekend and it was awesome. I paddled about 16 miles last Saturday and
didn't have much trouble, this trip is about 18 miles and broken into 2
days so I do not think it will be too bad although the river is not
tidal it is wide and open so winds do play a factor. I am not sure if
you have seen the article I sent out last week but my thought was to do
this route in reverse, head southwest and round the point and make camp
at a halfway point this way we should avoid the winds, if we get some at
least they should be at our backs as long as they come out of the
southwest. If the wind picks up I would anticipate a 1 to 2 foot chop
(spray skirts are wondrous items), probably less near land. Once we pass
the ship wrecks and round the 3rd point we should be pretty well
protected from wind and have an easy paddle back to the launch site.
Mike I hope that helps....

Matt, I hope I didn't step on any toes with my comment above!

Scott
