New Meetup: 1st Annual HROA Chili Cookoff and Campout

Announcing a new Meetup for Hampton Roads Outdoor Adventures!

What: 1st Annual HROA Chili Cookoff and Campout

When: November 21,[masked]:00 PM

Requested donation: $1.00 per person

Hampton Lodge Campground
1631 Waterlilly Rd
Coinjock, NC 27923

Assistant organizer Tracy came up with a fun idea for a fall social. She'll be leading the 1st annual Chili-Cookoff and Campout at the Hampton Lodge Campground in Coinjock, NC. They have pull-through sites for RVs, popups, and they have a tent area...anything you want to camp in is okay. I believe check out is 11am. The campground is on the sound with boat access, and kayaks, canoes and boats are accepted. Alcohol is permitted. Quiet time begins at 11pm and is strictly enforced.

While kids and pets are welcome to attend this event, there are not a lot of kid friendly activities; there is a small playground, and a lame gameroom.

This is a "rain-or-shine" event...though a hurricane may change our minds!

Everybody has their own idea of how to make chili; with meat/without meat, with beans/without beans, mild, hot, hotter, volcanic, etc.........

Prove to the world that your way is THE only right way. Tracy will arrive at the campground early Saturday Morning.

Here's the deal:

Each participant needs to provide all of their own supplies including bowls to eat from, plastic cups to ladle out "tasting portions", and plastic spoons for the tasters, plus a table to place everything on. Don't forget to bring plastic bags for cleanup. Naturally, you'll need to bring a method to cook the chili and bring your own stove or whatever, as well as pot, ladle, etc. Cook off starts at 6pm on Nov 21; campfire and socializing after the cookoff. Make enough chili to fill our bellies! W'ell round up others from the campground to be the judges...just to keep it fair.

Contact Hampton Lodge Campground at (252)[masked] to make reservations. The campground knows we're coming and will put us in the same general area.

Campsite prices are:
$25/night for electric and water
$20/night primitive
