District 9 has more than 60 clubs and stretches across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, including several in Spokane and North Idaho. Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. Founded in October 1924, the organization currently has more than 270,000 members in 13,000 clubs in 116 countries. Each week, Toastmasters helps more than a quarter million people of every ethnicity, education and profession build their competence in communication so they can gain the confidence to lead others. Build confidence and sharpen communication and leadership skills in a supportive environment. Check it out! No pressure to speak! Regular meetings include prepared speeches, Table Topics (Impromptu speaking), and speech evaluations. And FUN!
Clare's Clan meets at the Monastery of St. Clare, where some of the cloistered sisters are members. The atmosphere is peaceful and serene. The club asks that prospective members are respectful of the Catholic faith.
