“Human nature is not a fixed point; it is a work in progress,” philosopher Nick Bostrom tells us.

But what does it really mean to improve human beings, and who should decide? What would you change about us if you could?

Join the Reel Philosophers for another exciting event, this time featuring selected scenes from Andrew Niccol’s 1997 film Gattaca, using its vision of genetic selection to start us off on a discussion about the promises and risks of human enhancement.

Please note that we'll screen film clips only, not the entire film.

Inspired by ancient Greek symposia, Reel Philosophers nights help sharpen** critical thinking **through film discussions, gently guided by professional philosophers.
