A Colleague Needs our Help

This letter is a special plea from the Humane Society of Louisiana asking you to aid one of our trusted two-legged colleagues, Janet Lyons, who is experiencing a severe economic crisis. ?During the past eight years, Janet has worked tirelessly as a volunteer humane investigator for an under-served tri-parish region in Central Louisiana (Evangeline, St. Landry and Acadia Parishes). ?Often with one or more of her five children along in her truck, Janet conducts investigations of rough and tumble characters who have abandoned, injured or otherwise mistreated their dogs, cats, horses, pigs or cows. ?Janet often works with local law enforcement officials to ensure that these individuals either comply with state laws or suffer the consequences.

Janet has also accepted custody of hundreds of cruelly treated animals temporarily taking them to her residence where she and her family nurse them back to health before re-homing them. ?Presently, Janet has 12 cats, dogs and horses.

Normally, Janet pays for the care of these animals out of her own pocket but recently she and her family have experienced some unexpected economic hardship of their own. ?We are asking that if at all possible, you make a special contribution to help the Lyon family and the animals in their care. ?At a minimum, they are in need of cat and dog food, litter and horse feed. ?Monetary donations, animal food, and pre-paid gas cards from places like Petco or Petsmart may be send to Janet at P.O. Box 697, Church Point, Louisiana, 70527.

If you would like a tax deductible receipt, send donations to the Humane Society of Louisiana, P.O. Box[masked], New Orleans, LA 70174. ?Please write on the check in the memo space, "for Janet Lyon's rescue animals." ?Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. ?If you have further questions, please feel free to call me at[masked]-4432.
